After School Matters Dance Ensemble: At Home At the Harris Theater

This summer, the Harris was home to one of After School Matters’ Summer Dance Ensembles – officially named the After School Matters Dance Ensemble at the Harris Theater. From June until August, 26 teens and their teachers were in residence in the Prince Charitable Trusts and the William N. Wood Prince Family Rehearsal Room – the same studio space used by the Harris’ 35 resident companies, and the many national and international artists who perform on its stage each year.

Two ASM teens shared their thoughts on the experience:

I’ve danced around a lot of places but being here is really fun because I’m at the Harris Theater, dancing every day for the summer… It’s really great to have that experience and to get this training and dance all day.
– Isaiah, 14

This was a great summer to end with. This is my fifth summer with ASM, and [being at the Harris] was something new and different, and something that challenged us and helped me find something new.
– Natalie, 18
