On Saturday, January 30, Grammy-winning Kronos Quartet made its Exelon Family Series debut with Around the World with Kronos. Along with special guest Van-Anh Vanessa Vo, Kronos performed music spanning 4 continents and 9 countries. Following the performance, all audience members were invited to participate in a Q&A with the artists.
Since 2010, the Harris Theater has partnered with Cool Classics! – an organization committed to improving literacy among under-served elementary school students, expanding their sense of arts, culture and humanities and teaching critical thinking.
Cool Classics! has participated in the Access Tickets Program for the past five seasons, and to date over 500 underwritten tickets have been provided for students and parents. Cool Classics! has attended 13 performances at the Harris Theater, including Hubbard Street’s Harold and the Purple Crayon, Mummenschanz, Fulcrum Point’s Afrobeats, and Savion Glover, and participated in enrichment activities including artist interactions, a backstage tour, and a behind-the-scenes demonstration with Mummenschanz founder Floriana Frassetto.
On Saturday, November 15, Dan Zanes and Friends opened the 2014-2015 Exelon Family Series with a rocking performance - complete with a kids’ mosh pit! Families sang, danced, and had a chance to meet the band in the lobby during a special post-performance signing.
